Rabbit on the Hill

Upon the hill, I spot a little rabbit.

It makes me sad to see them out in the cold.

I sit in my warm house, and I wonder

Will they spend their Christmas on their own?

Surrounded by my glittering decorations,

All they have are winter chills and snow.

Maybe I’ll invite them in, offer some Christmas pudding.

I hope their Christmas is happy and warm.

I watch them hop away, as do I.

But, the rabbit hurried down, back into their wonderland.

Greeting their family with hugs and gifts,

There are ribbons hanging down

And a mighty Christmas tree.

The burrow is so festive and happy.

At the dinner table they munch upon their carrots,

Eating too much lettuce makes them sleepy.

They spend Christmas together, happy and warm.
